Delzani Signature Range – Premium Performance

The Outback PVC Combo is part of the Delzani Signature Series – for riders who expect strength, refinement and long-term performance from every piece of gear. Upgraded fittings, bartack reinforcing, and robust 400 GSM PVC mesh all reflect that commitment. Same trusted Delzani fit. Built stronger. Finished finer. Made to outlast.

Delzani Signature rugs aren't just made to last – they're made to lead.

Fabric & Construction
The Outback PVC Combo is built from 400 GSM knitted polyester PVC mesh - one of the heaviest and most durable summer rug fabrics available. Unlike standard air mesh, PVC mesh is non-absorbent: water runs off the surface, sweat doesn't soak in, and dust hoses clean. The open-channel knitted structure allows genuine airflow while blocking 87%+ UV. The rug starts firm and softens with exposure to sun and movement, moulding progressively to your horse's shape. Internal reinforced shoulder and mane linings reduce friction in the highest-contact zones. Bartack reinforcing on all fittings and premium hardware throughout ensure nothing fails early.
Care Instructions
Hose clean - no machine washing required for routine maintenance. For a deeper clean, hand wash or machine wash cold (30°C) with mild detergent. Line dry only. Do not tumble dry. PVC mesh does not require re-proofing.
Shipping & Returns
Free shipping Australia-wide for eligible orders. 30-day returns on unused rugs in original condition. See our Shipping & Returns Policy for details.
Size & Fit Guide
Refer to our Delzani Horse Rug Size Guide for measurements and fitting advice. For best results, the rug should sit forward over the wither and fasten comfortably on the 1st or 2nd chest buckle hole. Avoid sizing up for extra length - this increases the risk of slipping and rubbing.
Common Rider Questions (FAQ)

Q: What temperature range is the Outback PVC suitable for?
A: The Outback PVC is best suited to moderate to hot days. On days of extreme heat we recommend a lighter, more open-weave option such as the Barcoo or Barcoo Lite, which provide greater airflow in genuine extreme heat conditions. The trade-off is durability: lighter rugs won't match the toughness of the PVC Mesh. There is no rug on the market that is both ultra-lightweight and indestructible - the right choice comes down to matching the rug to the conditions and the horse on the day.

Q: Is a heavier PVC mesh rug hotter than a lighter air mesh?
A: Not automatically. Airflow and fabric construction matter more than weight alone. The Outback PVC's knitted structure creates an air gap between fabric and coat, allowing heat to escape rather than build up underneath - and it performs well on hot days. That said, on days of extreme heat, a lighter open-weave rug will outperform any heavier mesh on pure airflow. Match the rug to the conditions rather than choosing by weight alone.

Q: Will the Outback PVC protect against coat bleaching?
A: Yes. The PVC mesh is UV-stabilised to 87%+ protection - blocking the UV radiation responsible for coat fade and skin damage. This makes it particularly important for light-coloured horses, pink-skinned horses, and any horse in high-UV regions like Queensland, WA, and northern NSW.

Q: Is the Outback PVC suitable for humid or tropical regions?
A: Yes - it's one of the best options for coastal and tropical conditions on moderate to hot days. The non-absorbent PVC surface doesn't hold moisture against the coat, which helps prevent rainscald in humid or changeable weather. The open-channel airflow keeps ventilation moving even in still, sticky air. For horses in high-humidity regions, this rug's ability to shed water and dry fast is a genuine advantage over fabric-based alternatives.

Q: Why does the Outback PVC start firm - is that normal?
A: Yes, completely normal and by design. PVC mesh is firmer than standard air mesh when new. With exposure to sun and daily movement, it softens progressively and begins to mould to your horse's back, shoulder and rump shape. Most horses are fully comfortable within a few days of first wear, and the resulting fit is more contoured and secure than a soft mesh rug that never shapes.

Q: How do I clean it?
A: A hose-down is all it takes for routine maintenance - sweat and dust don't bond to PVC the way they do to fabric mesh. For a deeper clean, machine wash cold and line dry. No re-proofing required.

Accessories Sold Separately

Customise your rug setup with matching Delzani accessories sold separately:

Note on Tail Bags: We sell our tail bags (with Velcro attachment) separately. Pre-sewn Velcro can cause fit issues as ideal placement varies by horse. Fit the rug first, then attach the tail bag for best alignment.

Tail bags are not pre-sewn or attached to our rugs for this reason.

PVC mesh vs air mesh - what's the difference?

The Outback PVC uses 400 GSM knitted PVC mesh - heavier, tougher, and non-absorbent compared to standard air mesh. Understand how Delzani's mesh fabrics differ and which suits your horse best.

Why the Outback PVC?

Most summer rugs are built for the average horse in the average paddock. The Outback PVC Combo is built for the ones that aren't. If your horse wrecks rugs, lives in an exposed paddock, shares a paddock with trouble, or faces the relentless UV of a northern Australian summer - this is the rug that handles it.

Tough enough for the worst conditions. Outstanding airflow for hot days. And clean again with a rinse of the hose. When extreme heat hits, pair it with the Barcoo or Barcoo Lite – and keep the Outback for the days when durability is what matters most.

The Outback PVC: built for Australian paddocks, built for Australian summers, built to last.

Great product

By: on 10 February 2026
Love these rugs. My horses are in a rough paddock with trees and barbed wire that destroys most rugs. These have been on for a few weeks so far and no damage. This has also brought the bug bites to a minimum and keeps the boys a lot cooler in the 40° + days.

Finally a rug that lasts!

By: on 8 October 2025
My gelding destroys rugs like it’s his job, but this one has survived three weeks of paddock life and still looks new. Super impressed with how fast it dries too after rain!
